The villa, which is the first in a series of ten, is characterised by the theme of balance between cement, a construction material and water, a natural material. This exchange takes place thanks to the use of mirroring and crossing themes. Water, in the form and function of a pool (a veritable “impluvium”), is integrated into the design all the way to the foot of the Villa’s central foundation, reflecting the structure’s intrados and projecting a rarefied light around the building. Inside the villa, water cascades down from a quasi-agricultural style canal, passing through a supporting beam and flowing down a series of descending basins all the way to the heart of the building, where it forms an intimate, inside pool. A true translation of the impluvium.

Water and the way it can transform from shape to shape are what allows there to be a passage, a connection between intimus (the superlative form of interior) and exterior. Visual and tactile pleasure, conferred by materials that present such a heavy contrast amongst themselves, is the path towards the “sensory education” that the Villa provides.
