The design of the Mosque in Sokhna aspires to represent the theme of “Chiasma”, or rather the connection between dialogue and diverse horizons. The theme of light takes shape and form due to the invention of 10 differently-sized categories of skylights built in preset cement, that when paired with the simple concrete structure and the polychrome glass walls, create a poetry of colour through tradition (which touches religions across-the-board). The skylights themselves seem a study of unknown but beloved mountains, inventing a contemporary genealogical language for a Timeless genealogical place.
